Talking Hello from Little Rock AFB!

I am very new to these forums, finally decided to make an account after browsing for a couple of hours about people's stories about their feathered companions and I figured I would share mine. I have 2 friends right now, a Pineapple GC Conure (just got him yesterday ) and a white and blue Budgie named Alphonse (He had a brother named Edward, who recently passed ). I have owned many birds growing up and each of them was a different experience for me.

I am 22 and currently enlisted, and just recently finished my degree as a Vet Technician (hopefully will be putting it to very good use once my time in the military is up )

I recently just purchased a Pineapple Conure and only had him for a day and a half and I will say that he is by far THE best avian I have owned. So loving and a huge cuddlebug right off the bat, which surprised me a lot, however he does have a bit of a nipping issue that is slowly being trained to quit (He doesn't bite hard, just enough to leave a small dent in my skin LOL!). I love him to pieces!

I hope to learn a lot from all of you. Feel free to PM me to chat at any time!

Welcome to the forum, your babies are gorgeous!

Hey you're going to learn something new right now. You're actually the owner of a yellow sided green cheek conure, not a pineapple. A pineapple is a cross between the yellow sided and cinnamon mutations. A pineapple has a very pale head, whereas the yellow sided has a dark head

Hi and welcome, your conure is beautiful! As Daisy said it is a yellow sided not a pineapple, I almost bought a yellow sided when I bought my pineapple... It was stunning! My green cheek also was very friendly right from the start... I got her at 3 months old and she is now 3 years! She is an awesome bird! Here is a pic of mine to show you the color difference Daisy was talking about.

Yes, your yellow sided looks real similar to the one I just got. Not much "yellow sides" just a bit under the wings. But the face coloring was what sold me. Still need DNA test, so no name yet. Approx the same age as Shelby my cinnamon. I'm hoping they will become friends in a few weeks.

Welcome to the forum!! Your birds are adorable I personally think yellow sided are prettier than pineapples - same as Eric, I love the darker face with the reds and yellows. Sorry to hear of the passing of Edward. Is Alphonse hand tame? Love the names btw, FMA is one of my favorite shows

Alphonse is in the middle of his training, right now. He lets me pet him, give him kisses on the head, but he still seems to try to fly away when i try to hold him. Its kind of hard to explain, I guess the best way to put it is ge is very jumpy at times. He seems to just want to hang out on top Of his cage, which I let him, but won't want to sit with me at my desk or on the couch.
