Welcome to TalkParrots! Quakers are great. I don't own one personally, but I've been around them plenty of times and I hear great things about them.
You'll find tons of information and help here from experienced owners. Ask as many questions as you like!

Oh and I almost forgot! We love pictures, so be sure to show us some!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I will do pictures soon.
This is what I know about Divet's history: Her first owner had her for 8 years in South Florida. She ended up outside where she was fighting off rats for her food. Her second owner, Lisa, rescued her from that situation and had her for 5 years. Lisa's dad had to come live with her and he was alone with Divet all day. Divet wanted attention and would scream all day and the dad couldn't handle it. Lisa's family made the decision to find another home for Divet. I wanted a parrot for a while and we have a friend who is involved in parrot rescue. He called me and said he might have a small parrot that I would be interested in and for me to call Lisa and talk to her. Hubby and I went to see Divet and took her home. All the way home Divet kept asking"Whatcha doin?"
She seemed to make the transition very well. Stepping up with no problem. She initially bonded to my hubby but I feed her and clean her cage and fuss over her so she seems to have switched and bonded to me. I can pet her and put my face next to her. I don't allow her on my shoulder because she goes under my hair and bites my neck. She will not step up for hubby and yells at him when he comes near her cage. He now stands in front of her cage and clucks and she seems to like that. listening intently.

Yes. I am getting very attached to her. She lets me cup her between my hands and give her tons of kisses. I am totally enjoying her.
