Hello all, I'm new to this forum, but have been a member of Talk Cockatiels for a while. I live in California with my hubby and three children. I have two African grays, budgies, cockatiels, button quail and ringneck doves. I also have a guinea pig, dog, cat, and a bunch of rabbits that have adopted us and are breeding like, well rabbits.
My grays were given to me last year, the hen is in love with my son and the cock hates everyone. She is 25 years old and he is 15. I'm not expecting any babies from them, as they have been together for 10 years and have never bred. They both hate me because I'm the medicine giver.
Aww thats too bad I guess its just a long process to gain their trust just keep giving them treats and praise and I'm sure eventually they'll come along. By the way are they congo or timmeh? Good luck
They are Congo grays. They have been set up as breeders for years, so have had no handling at all. She's a red factor and I'm not sure if he is since he's plucked himself so much his chest feathers won't grow back. She loves getting off her cage and traveling. My husband found her visiting my daughter yesterday. My son is the only one she really likes, she will tolerate my husband. The only time she'll let me touch her is in the morning when I let her out of her cage.
Here are a couple pictures of Dixie, and I threw in one of my daughter showing off a bunch of baby doves and also her budgie and my rotten bird child Emperor. He thinks he rules the roost, but he's mistaken that's my cat's job. He was an only child. His sister and brother were 3 weeks behind him and the other clutch was a month ahead, so he had his own aquarium.
They really are pretty. I am fairly new here also. Need to figure out how to download the pictures I took of Divet so I can post them. She is a 13 yr old Quaker
