It's Sunny in Mexico

I've enjoyed a lot of birds, but now I'm retired and living with 5 cockatiels that I had hoped would produce my hand raised pet. I've hand tamed these aviary raised beauties, but we are not bonded and they have been reluctant to lay eggs.

This week I answered an ad for a Lilac Crowned Amazon and he was the bird I had dreamed of owning. Chu Chu is 2 years old and raised by a loving couple since he was 4 months. He knows 20 phrases, plays with the dog, eats a healthy varied diet and enjoys meeting people. I brought him home yesterday and he's adjusting easily. He has approached me twice to be held and has only bitten me once when I tried to scratch him. I know now to let him make all the advances and so far he's loved the new foods and new toys he's discovered in his cage and on the tree gym. I will enjoy visiting this forum as I have a lot to learn about this little fellow.

to Talk Parrots Sunny & flock.

We'd love to see some photos of Chu Chu and your five cockatiels when you have the time.

Cheers,

John.

Welcome to the forum. Lilac crowned amazons are my dream bird too (at least from what I've read) it would be nice to get some "first hand" experiences.
