well welcome to the site. i have a sun conure named russel there are many different methods to stopping a bird from biting so you should personalize each to your own situation. Lets first start with why hes biting, like most bad behaviours we often are the ones who teach it to the bird

How often does he bite? When does he bite? How have you reacted when he bites? Why do you think hes biting? Is he being properly stimulated? Does he have a big enough cage? How often do you let him out?

The fact that you had him at 2 months also might be the problem most sun conures dont leave till 3 months thats crucial time with his clutchmates to learn boundries on how hard they can play. Also conures are a nippy bird while there maturing youll prolly get a lot of bites at different phases you just have to be understanding and consistant and hell come around and realize hes biting too hard, its prolly not hormones at this age,

As Jessie said at his age we very much so doubt it would be hormones, and she also mentioned that it was a bit early for it to leave its clutch mates.

If you answer the questions she asked I'm sure we can help

Oh and by the way, welcome to the forum!

hi jessie & daisy, thanks for replying. my conures name is elvis, he bites almost all the time, sometimes hard & sometimes just nibbling. i have no idea why he is biting, when he does i usually tap him on the beak & say no bite. when he bites really hard, i do the same thing & put him in his cage. his cage is a good size 32"h x 20" depth square. he gets alot of attention from me & my husband. has lots of toys that he plays with. he gets out quite a bit, we hold him & let him walk around.

There are other members on here too with sun conures, Abby, one of the moderators has one, and she is fairly new to owning them, so she may be able to help you

I have a green cheek conure about the same age. He was nippy right from the start and I tried lots of diffrent things Ignoring the bites and not reacting while redirecting his attention kept it status quo. Then I tried more discipline by saying no, pushing his beak away, blowing in his face. All this did was make him mad and he would then bite me a whole bunch more. He was a read hard head. So then I started gently holding the sides of his head where the upper and lower mandible come together so he couldn't bite and gently stroking his beak for a couple of seconds while cooing "be nice." This has really worked and he does not bite often now and rarely does it hurt. And I just started this a few days ago. Good luck to you!

sorry I was away for easter. i totally agree with julie, sun conures are extremely sensitive little birds if you act rough while training they often just get angry or frustrated, I definitly find that if instead of pulling away when he bites + do similar things to what julie says I try to soothe him a lot of times hes nibbling cause he doesnt understand or hes frustrated so I try soothing him and staying calm. They are extremley nibbley by nature so try bringing out blocks or bells something he can put his beak too, I find at that age there just testing there beaks kind of like teething so when he nibbles give him something more constructive to chew on they need a lot of stimulation so make sure he gets alot of fun things to try. They're very clingy so he might be realizing he gets attention when he bites, so give him long cuddling sessions too. Alot of times you have to try alot of different training methods before you find one that works for you and your parrot
