Hi All,

My name is Stacie. I had an English budgie named Bubbles for 8.5 years and he passed away a year ago. I am now feeling ready for a new birdie. I really miss having one. I initially wanted to get another English budgie, but I haven't been able to find any in my area (Northern, CA). When I was at the bird store I asked for suggestions on other birds and the saleswoman said that pionus parrots make good pets. I have spent the last month researching pionus as well as other parrots and recently decided that a green cheek conure has more of the traits that I am looking for. I think they are absolutley adorable and love how snuggly and playful they can be. I am a little worried about their biting reputation, but I am willing to put in the time and effort to train and socialize the bird well and understand its body language. Anyway I will keep you posted when I find a new birdy.

Heya Stacie! Welcome to the forum, there are many green cheek conure owners on the forum and I'm sure they'd be happy to help. I still really want one! They're meant to be wonderful pets

Welcome to the forum! I have a Pineapple Green Cheek Conure named Libby and a blue Pacific Parrotlet named Angelina.

Libby is the most wonderful bird I've ever been owned by! She's clowny, cuddly, smart, playful and beautiful!! You're in for a fun time with a Green Cheek!

I am a new green cheek owner. Have had mine for about 7 weeks now. I have been struggling with the biting the whole time but it is getting better. Make sure you get a breeder who really handles them a lot and makes sure they are well socialized or if from a pet store one that you have handled enough to see what they are like. I am pretty sure mine was not handled as much as he should have been. But we are working through it. And he is a lot of fun. We are quite attached to each other.
