Hello to all the parronts out there,
I'm Deb, the human in our little flock-family here.
Alex, my Sun Conure (also known as the deconstruction unit) is busy chewing apart a coconut water box at the moment. I can spend a small fortune on toys, yet still he will show the greatest interest for a small shipping box, a coconut water box, or a running shoe box.
Frankie, a Quaker Parakeet, is to my right, currently snoozing on the play perch. Both he and I had a rough night sleeping last night. He always seems to wake up when I get up during the night.
Yes, last night was rather sleepless, as the third member of my flock, Rudy, a quaker parakeet, is now at the Rainbow Bridge. He passed away suddenly this weekend. Of all the times to show symptoms of anything, he left it to the weekend, and by then, it was too late. I dropped him off at the vet's office. Dr. Laura was baffled, as she just saw him two weeks ago for a wellness check. I know that I need answers, but handing over his little lifeless body was one of the hardest things that I have ever done. Alex occasionally glances at Rudy's cage as if to say "Where is he? He never misses breakfast!" Bless you, Rudy; I love you.

Welcome to Talk Parrots, Deb! I'm so sorry for your loss of your little buddy Rudy. Hopefully you get some answers as to why he so suddenly passed away.

I hope the rest of your flock is healthy and well, they sound wonderful!

Sorry for your loss. I too have a five year old Sun Conure, but he doesn't chew boxes. I love conures there the best.

and welcome to our group on this sad occasion. Birds are known to have heart attacks and strokes. I had a young rosy Bourke that received a clean bill of health from my avian vet. A week late while I was talking to her, she happily chipped back suddenly stiffened, fell off her perch and I could tell she was dead before she landed on the bottom of the cage. I was in utter shock having this happen right in front of me. So may Ruby's memories help heal your heart.I can see you still receive much joy from your other birds

Hi Deb and flock. So sorry to read about Rudy. Yeah, I know how they show symptoms when the vet is closed. Isn't it funny how they like the simple things when, like you said, you spend money on toys?

Hi Deb, welcome and so sorry for your loss! I hope you can get some closure from any answers you get from the vet. Sounds like you have quite a sweet flock, I'm sure the other birds are missing Rudy too!
the box thing reminds me of kids - you buy them a toy and all the want to do is play inside the big box it came in haha. At least that's what my parents said I used to do :P
