Hello from Boston
Hello all. I'm Allen from Boston. I've lived here for over 20 years with my husband (married 10). I've had animal companions all my life. Mostly dogs. Cats. Mice. Doves. Fish. Salt water reef tank...no lizards though.
After my dogs passed due to old age, 14 & 17, I didn't want any more pets. Certainly not anything with fur. The loss of my dogs was to much.
After awhile I found I still wanted animal companionship. Having doves in the past I concidered getting another. But then there was the husband. Although I love being serenaded by a dove, he would not.
So I did some research. Local, small, cute, fairly quiet for the husband. Feisty little, parrot for me. We visited a breeder. We selected & brought home Peete, a Pacific Parrotlet. A turquoise mutation. Feisty doesn't even begin to describe him. My bratty little blue bird.
A year later, after me pestering, we went to a shelter & adopted a cockatiel. Dexter was found in a parking lot. They guess he's 3-6 years old. He looks like a normal grey but now that I know more, I see ghost pearls.
This past labor day we adopted another shelter bird. Another cockatiel. Benny was also found outdoors. His foster mom said he wasn't fully weaned. The vet thinks he's <6 months old. He appears to be a cinnamon, pearl, pied. Loooves head rubs & food. Don't ask which is better
