Hi there world!

Hello! This is my first feathery forum (finally a place to let all my bird nerdiness be set free!). I have been around birds since I was a child and have had the pleasure of having birds such as zebra finches, cocktiels and lovebirds in my home. Most recently, my 18-year old lovebird Panchoe passed away; he was very dear to my heart.

After his passing, our home was left eerily quiet and so, we went on the hunt for another family bird. A few months later, we picked up our adorable little Max, a black-capped caique, in May of this year and could not be happier. Although he can never replace Panchoe, he has indeed wiggled his way into our hearts.

He loves to play, hop, destroy everything in his path and anything having to do with water! That being said, I hope to learn alot here!

Hello and welcome to the forum, sorry you lost Panchoe its amazing he lived 18 years you obviously knew how to take wonderful care of him.

I'm sure Max will keep you entertained and make you fall madly in love with him, bc caiques are so happy hoppy and playful and from what other owners tell me they are incredibly smart and great escape artists.

I look forward to hearing more about your new fid friend.

Thanks for the welcome! Yep, as expected, Max is super playful and hoppy and always full of energy. One thing I never noticed in any other videos I've seen of caiques is how awfully fond they are of water. Max will sing his heart out at the very sound of it and absolutely adores baths!

How are your gang doing JP? I use to follow your posts on another board, have you figured out who was the escape artist?

Congratulations of being the new owner of fidlet chickies! I'm sure you will be having loads of fun with many little hoppers entertaining you while the parents escape their cages and rob the kitchen.
