Hello!

I have been a member of Talk Budgies since August 2015. I joined to learn more about my two budgies that I absolutely adore! In December we decided to rescue a 25 year old African Grey and Senegal that were no longer able to be properly cared for due to health issues of their owner. It has been so much fun and amazing to see the two rescues thrive in their new home with us! Pepper is our Senegal and Simon was the African Grey, well still is but has been renamed Simone because she has layed 6 eggs! Who knew, we were told she was a he! Both came to us with bare chests due to plucking.. they were very stressed. Pepper has grown back her feathers amazingly and Simone is starting to get some feathers on her chest but much more slowly. That is all for now!

Actually! If anyone could comment whether Pepper is male or female (ive been saying she) .. that would be amazing! I have tried looking up information.. as for under the tail she does have green .. but the v of green does not go down between the legs.. so I'm really not sure.. Simone has layed eggs while Pepper has not. thanks in advance!

Senegal Sexing Page

green does seem to indicate a female. Have also heard about the V but not sure about that or how far down on the abdomen it should be.

Welcome to TP! All your birds are very cute! I also have a grey who's a plucker. We've got a 3-step system we're doing right now to try to improve it and it seems to be working. I've had him for a few years and he's been plucking since before I got him.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes. I apologize I have not been very active. Aztec my yellow budgie passed away yesterday.. and I have been trying to comfort Kiwi. She is finally eating again and has even chirped a few times. Aztec was only 13 months old and it was devastating.

Oh no, that is the worst. Recently one of the rabbits at my parents' died, and her buddy snuggled up next to her even when she was dead and was clearly upset the rest of the night when her body was removed. It killed me.

I'm so sorry you lost Aztec, I hope Kiwi won't be badly affected by the loss and will pick up soon.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

So sorry to hear of your loss since you've joined What a wonderful job you've done with your rehomes though. It's amazing what a change in environment can do for a bird. Loved the pictures of your flock

Hello everyone I am back! I have not been on in quite some time! I have had just so much going on! I would however like to introduce Kiwis Boyfriend Zircon! I got him in April a few weeks after Aztec had passed away. Kiwi seemed like she needed a friend badly! They are very close already!

This was Zirci in quarantine.. what a ladies man!

after being introduced

some action shots..

Congrats on the new addition and what a beauty he is!

I am blown away by the amazing action shots of the dive bombing in to their bath and flying open wing pics.

Thank you for posting them!
