New to your site

Hello everyone! I was previously on a Kakariki forum site based in New Zealand, but it seems to have been deactivated. I have 2 parrots. 1 beautiful green kakariki and 1 lovely pied cockatiel. They are both wonderful companions. I have had them both for 2 years. The kakariki, I bought at a pet store and the cockatiel I rescued from the humane society. They are both unique characters with such different personalities. The kakariki is the usual aloof clown that hops around and flies like a fighter pilot. My cockatiel is so bonded with me that I can't walk 2 feet away from him without him flying to perch on my shoulder. I walk around all day with him sitting on me, even while I vacuum and do all my housework! They are both caged at night, and I let them out in the morning to play and spend the whole day out with me. They have a seed and pellet mixture in their cages, which I leave open for them to return to at their will. They also get all their fresh veggies at a feeding & play station each day. My kakariki's favorite is the fresh sprigs of rosemary that he eats and does his "anting" activities with. They both enjoy coming in the shower with me and I have a shower perch for them.
I am thoroughly enjoying my 2 companions and could not imagine my days without them. They are my first parrots and I can't believe you can fall in love so much with these wonderful feathered creatures.
Hello to all and I look forward to being part of your forum!

Great pics I like their hang out tree you set up for them. This pic made me smile! Who doesn't love a tiel smile?

Thanks Mr Peepers. What type of bird(s) do you have? It's nice to talk to other "bird people". A lot of people who don't own birds, don't get why someone would enjoy them so much. I once had a boyfriend over while my birds were out and I put my tiel on his shoulder, he freaked out saying "don't peck my eyes out" and looked terrified. That was the last date I had with him, lol. If you don't like my birds you're outta here! I'm in Ontario also! Thanks for taking the time to look at the pics of my "boys".

I don't understand how people can be so strange or afraid around a bird they are fascinating little/large creatures and have such interesting unique personalities.

I am the happy owner of a budgie named SPX, (the strange bird surf/floating around in my siggy. I use to have a canary named Mr Peepers but he passed on to the rainbow bridge a year ago.

Oh SPX is beautiful, I love the blue budgies. Sorry about Mr Peepers, it's so hard to lose a companion. I lost my lovely Doberman a few years ago and it still brings a tear to my eyes when I think about what an amazing friend she was.

Its never easy to lose a pet especially a dog, they are so hands on and involved in every moment of your life from waking up to going to bed 24 -7.

You should make a thread in the Chit Chat (other Animals ) section and post up some pics of your dog there and share some stories and pics of her with us. We really love all pets here.

Sweet pics! I love your bird room set up, but it makes me feel messy because my bird room has seed husks on the carpet despite my hoovering all the time. Your bird room is spotless!
