Flock Intro (pic heavy)

Well I actually joined a while ago, but now I intend to actually be active since I can do so from my phone

I live in Hawaii with my flock, family, pack, pride, and school (read; birds, humans, dog, cats, and fish). Here are just a few pics of my flock

Hello and welcome (back?) to the forum I am so in love with your flock! I'd love to see some more pics of your pionus, not many people seem to have them and they're such wonderful birds. Your ringnecks are stunning too. I love the aviary photos

Thanks! Yes, she is the talker of the group, too, which as I understand it, isn't all that common for female Pionus.

Thank you! You know I have never actually met anyone with a lorikeet. I know we have them in the USA, I just haven't met any. And right now I live in Hawaii, and they are illegal here.

Really? I didn't know that. Do you have any other illegal species? We have an issue here in the UK with Indian ringnecks and Alexandrines. People want to cull them. I know they upset our ecosystems but they're amazing to see. I was visiting Amsterdam the last 2 years and each time I've seen them in the wild living in the parks and they're so cool to watch in flight (and very loud haha)

I used to keep a few different lories and lorikeets. My baby was Darwin, a black capped lory. We lost our companion parrots due to a gas leak in 2013 and I miss them every minute of every day. I had a Swainson's lorikeet, green naped lorikeet, black capped lory, yellow streaked lory and a dusky lory. I adore them but they're a messy little pain in the butt haha. If you like the idea of having your walls well and truly painted with poop then they make great birds

I'm so sorry for your incredible loss.

And yes, we have MANY species that are illegal here; all lories and lorikeets, Quakers, Caiques, Linnie's, just to name a few. Asiatics as well but that is not enforced since there are so many people with them here. One local. Reeder got the law bright down on him pretty hard for various things, but they never batted an eye at his asiatics even though they are technically illegal.

I love my girl she has a rough past and her progress is slow though. Pionus as a rule are very shy and nervous and easily upset compared to other species.
