It is Louise from South Africa (sounds like I am in a AA meeting, not that I ever had to attend one ) I am the proud owner of a 8 week old Alexandrine Parrakeet. This is my first parrot and would like to know what the cage requirements is for this Parrot. Thanks

Hi Louise welcome to Talk Parrots.

The rule of thumb with all birds is to buy the largest cage you can possibly afford for your pet bird, alex's grow long tails so they need a tall cage as well as a wide and long cage. So something 3 feet high and 3 feet across and 2 feet or more wider is on the right track.

We love pics here so please feel free to share your new bird with us.

Hello and welcome to the forum

I would personally go for the largest cages you have available for the price you can afford. They have incredibly long tails and need space to move around without catching them on everything. They'll make the most of the space you offer too
