Pineapple Conure

Hey there, just about to purchase an aviary pineapple conure male who recently lost his life long mate, I am planning on getting him a new love but I am finding it difficult to find a "pineapple". Would a normal green cheek be suitable for breeding? Any help would be very appreciated Kim

Hi, and welcome!

Actually, there is not really such a thing as a pineapple conure; what you have is a Green Cheeked Conure who has two color mutations; yellow-sided and cinnamon. That COLOR of green cheek is called "pineapple."

So any GCC of any color is the same species. However, some birds will reject mates of a color they have never seen. Contact the previous owner to see what colors of green cheeks they had within sight, and choose one of those colors.

Welcome to the forum, I hope you can find a friend for your conure who lost his mate. 2 birds are always more fun to watch interact and play!
