New bee bee parrot

I just got a new canary yellow winged bee bee. All he wants to eat is the l
Millet. I have given a variety of seeds, fresh fruits, and vegetable but will only it that. The pet store said there he ate his seed and we bought what he ate there. Could it be just the change and should I worry about him not eating?

Hi Tammy welcome to Talk Parrots! How long have you had your YWBB?

I would limit the millet to treats only especially if you want to hand train your new bird friend, offer seeds and don't stop offering fresh veggies and fruits every day. Its important to keep offering the new foods as your bird will be naturally suspicious of things he's never seen or eaten before, once you keep offing it the bird will catch on that its not evil and there to kill him and he will eat it.

Try giving him a little chunk of fresh broccoli wet the broccoli top and sprinkle a little loose millet seeds on it and leave it in the cage to see if he will go for the millet on the greens. You will find he will nibble the broccoli as well as the seeds, he may not do this right away but he will figure it out soon enough.

I've bribed all my new birds into eating fresh foods by offering it every day with a tiny amount of millet on it to entice them and over time they got to know the taste of the veggies and love them so I didn't have to give them anything with millet sprinkled on it anymore.

I got him to eat some apples, corn on cob, carrots and spinach leaves, finally. Is there things he shouldn't eat and can he eat too much of those things. We got him Sun so we have had him only three days. Thanks for replying to my post!
