Grey lover

Hello all. I was a member of a parrot forum years ago and I connected with some great parrot parents on a regular basis. Way back on TooLady forums then some of the members started anther forum and for the life of me I cannot remember the name. ((shame)) I did not post for a while and when I did years later the site was gone. We always shared stories information and emotional support. Today I need that support. I am hoping experience the same interaction.

This morning I had to put my 16 year old African Grey Roscoe to sleep. He was suffering from PDD according to 2 avian vets and the radiograghs confirmed this. Blood test was a false negative. His crop was holding food which caused bacteria and yeast to form. I tried the meds to help move his food through the crop, gave antifungal and bacterial meds as well as an antiflammitary meds to no avail. I am absolutely sick about this and heartbroken. 9 years ago he had seizures and lost a ton of weight. They suspected PDD but he was never tested and recovered. I always kept a clean cage, fresh water and foods. The vet said this most likely is something that he got from his parents, I am at a loss.

Just say a prayer for my sweet baby. He was way to young to die. I don't know how I can live without him.
