Hello to you all... I just got 2
rosey Bourkes, and I picked out the two that were the most uniquely colored. I named them Peck n Paw...Peck because he pecked the breeders hand while trying to catch him for me, and Paw, which is short for Polly. They are really quiet, as I have an African Grey (Radar) that talks his little heart out, though I must admit most of his vocabulary is intended only for those 18+. He's wonderful though. We've had him for maybe 13 years or so. We've had a lot of the bigger Parrots over the years, so the Bourkes are really small to me. I got a new cage for them... 38 X 38 X 45 high, and It looks just way too huge for them. I'm having questions as to where I should place their food and water bowls, as I've read that they forage the ground for grass seeds, etc. I probably bought way too many cool toys, and I have numerous perches for them, all shapes and sizes. Anyone have good feedback on where is the best place in a big cage for water or food bowls/dishes? Or any other helpful info is greatly accepted. Once again, hello to all. I'm looking forward to bird chat on here. Thank you

Hello and welcome

Congratulations on your Bourke's!

While they do like to forage on the ground, I would keep their bowls higher up (or in the usual place the holders are). If they're beneath the birds a lot you may find the food will get soiled easily and bowls will need constant washing. If you want to provide them with foraging enrichment by all means you could set something up for them to play on on the floor, like a towel with scattered seeds on it perhaps? Just something nice and easy to provide them with their natural habits
