Kind of obsessing over parrots

About 4 months ago, I went into a bird store in the city I am moving to and it was love at first site with a baby canary wing parakeet. However, my new house is not ready, so I started doing parrot research (eventually found here too). I have watched hundreds of videos, read books, joined chat groups, etc. My research led me to this list: the beebee, a parrotlet, a lovebird, green cheek Conure, or a budgie. Obviously, I like the small ones, and a Caique. I have not yet convinced my partner, and the negatives may prevent me from parenting a parrot...especially the pooping and biting (not for me, but the partner) I visit the little beebees each time I drive to the new house, and one of the 5 babies was sold. So, that is my introduction, and I understand why you all love these birds.

Welcome, Joey, to Talk Parrots! As you continue to familiarize yourself with this forum, you will discover that we are a compassionate bunch of bird-lovers, like yourself. I am still grieving over the death of my dear Sweetheart, an English (show) parakeet, but let me tell you, all the love and attention you can give to these birds, is given back thricefold -- and if you get a smaller parrot, this might ease your partner into acceptance over adding a companion bird to your family. Your partner's fear of parrots must be acknowledged first, or this might hold you back from bonding with your bird in a big way. Ask your partner about their own bird preference, as you share your parrot research with your significant other -- and you might be surprised of the reaction of your partner, as their fears lessen with the engagement of positive feedback.

Good luck, Joey. Parakeets are small feathered creatures with very big hearts. All the love and attention you can give to these birds, is given back thricefold. ❤️

I hope your partner can come on board!
