Hello

Hi all, wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lisa. We will be getting our parrot Sunday, a green cheek conure baby. We just lost our baby parrotlet Tarzan, which was heartbreaking but we are looking forward to a new and long journey with our GCC baby. We are naming our new baby margarita.

Margarita says Hello back! Sparkle is beautiful! We are trying to figure out how to get Margarita into a good bedtime routine at the moment. LOl She likes to be stubborn and perks up at night wanting to play even though it is bedtime, usually I give in, but I know I she needs good rest so trying to get into a better routine. I am a sucker, what can I say? LOL

Oh I feel your pain. Sparkle went through the bed time screaming phase. We're on the same page now. Took a few nights of ignoring the flock calls for hours, and couple of trashed cages, but we are behaving now... For the time being.

Question, did sparkle go nuts at bedtime? I know you said sparkle trashed the cage a few times. Margarita gets upset if she can't see me. I was covering her cage at night. Now I just cover 3 sides, and the side where I sleep she is able to see me and is ok, but getting her to go to sleep now is a mess. She did settle down when I covered the cage, now she sits close to me, and talks for an hour, before getting quiet for bed. This makes her bedtime around 11 pm, and I hate her going to bed late (we go to bed at 11). But putting her in her cage for bed is when I have a problem, she goes nuts, running around the cage, and mad, she will bite if you get close to the cage and she is in this mode. She also flaps her wings like she is angry. She gets PLENTY of playtime outside her cage during the day. Hours in the morning, and evening, and her door stays open in case she wants to go in for water and food. So she isn't neglected. We have ordered her a larger cage too, as I think this is some of the problem as well. Just waiting on the darn thing to come in. Oh well, this too shall pass. Only had her a week so I know it will take time. We love her though, she is so playful and funny. She keeps me laughing!

Green Cheeks just flat out do NOT like to go to bed. (at least I haven't heard of one that does). When I first got mine, covering the cage made things worse, she likes to see what she's missing. lol Be strong, and consistent, they learn quickly, and abide by the rules eventually, but still like to protest with a little bite while you put to bed....lol I find mine doesn't require nearly as much sleep as my others (African Grey, and Budgie, who beg to go to bed early). So, take that into consideration too. A later bed time is perhaps necessary.

Hello

My gcc BEGS to go to bed... Around 7 pm she settles down and naps untill I take her to bed which she then sleeps all night without a peep..

The bad thing is MORNINGS!!
She will climb to the top of her cage hang upside down and flap her wings screaming.. First time she did this I thought she was having a stroke.. But no... She likes to see how fast I can get up. and doing that is the way to do it.. LOL

Kennedy that is so funny, Margarita does this at night! LOL. At first I thought she was going nuts. LOL She gets mad and yes I get bit at bedtime and it hurts. I now have bruises on both hands from her wanting to be near me and attack! OUCH! But she is getting better. I have noticed she isn't as bad today, and less bites today. We have had her a week now! YAY! She loves veggies, fruits and her birdie bread! We are training with sunflower seeds as they are her favorites. My daughter has taught her how to wave. LOL And when I tell her to step up, she repeats it while stepping onto my hand. I love these little guys! She keeps me laughing for hours.
