Hii! New here :)

Hi, I'm Christina and im 20 years old. I have a male eclectus named Rocky. He is 18 years old. I adopted him from an older couple who needed to find him a home because of lifestyle changes. He's a sweetheart. I got him for my mom who lost her parrot years ago due to a house fire. He picked up my voice quickly and loves mimicking me and saying things just like I say. He has quite the vocabulary! Just wanted to join here and meet other birdy parents and maybe learn more

I would like to ask a few questions. Rocky is picky about what he eats. He's not crazy about any seed but we feed him like his previous owners told us to. Fruits veggies, egg, etc. is there anything in specific your birds like that maybe I can try with Rocky? Thanks.

Eclectus have a different diet to other birds, have you looked into it? I know everybody who has one feeds almost all natural stuff but I'll have a read up on it myself as I've forgotten

Welcome by the way!

Welcome,
Eclectus are amazing birds and yes picky eaters.
I agree with Daisy look up their diet on the internet.
By the way we'd love a picture.

Hii! New here :)

I have researched it quite a bit. Rocky doesn't like lettuce, spinach, roses... We've tried oranges, mangos, peaches, and many other fruits. He love apples, strawberries, pineapples, potatoes. We don't have much choice at our local store for fruits and veggs. We have the basics lol. I also give him a couple for prices of cereal in the morning. He only seems to want to eat when I eat. Lol. He will start saying " I wanna bite, I wanna bite" when I eat. Ive caught him in my plate when I had a subway sandwhich one time ( veggies only) lol.

Also, he talks like crazy around me, my boyfriend, and my dad. But he will not talk around my mom. She bonds with him more but he just won't talk. As soon as she leaves the room he's talking. Why?

You've found a great forum here with many friendly people and lots of advice.

Try mixing the things he doesn't like to eat in with things he does like to eat, in eating one thing he might get the other and learn to like it

Lovely bird. Afraid I know nothing about these but I have a house full of picky eaters!

Hoping some one comes along soon who can help. Why not try posting in the diet section to get more responses?
