Hello!

Hi, I'm originally from over on Talk Cockatiels. Last moth (1/24/13) my female cockatiel flew to the rainbow bridge. She was only 10 yrs old and had only been with me for two of those years.
I'm miss her terribly; I miss her whistles, her smell, her cuddles and companionship. Just knowing that she's there.
I still miss her but I'd like to get another bird. I know no bird could ever replace Ladybird; and I feel that if I get another tiel, that I'd be "replacing" her. Or betraying her...
With Ladybird, I was very short on funds to provide her with veterinary care she so desperately needed in her last days. But this time, I will be better prepared or an emergency if one arises.
But I've joined this forum to become better acquainted with other types of parrots.

Welcome to Talk Parrots! Glad you decided to join! And yes, if you want to hear all
about big vet bills, talk to Daisy! I'm so very sorry for your loss; that must have been
absolutely awful!! Things will get better, and don't you dare worry about 'replacing'
her, as I know she'll understand if you get another bird and it wouldn't be 'replacing'. I
recently lost my green cheek conure, Apple, and I was terrified of getting another
bird. I was afraid it would be too much like replacing. However, Daisy (catalinadee)
convinced me otherwise! It really does help to get another bird. A new bird will cheer
you up, will be a friend for you, and I'm sure some how understands you've undergone
a loss and will be there for you. So in the end, I did get another bird. A smaller bird,
a budgie. But Holly is wonderful, and definitely NOT a replacement.

Like I said, I'm glad you decided to join! You will learn lots here; everyone is friendly
and very knowledgeable. Hope to see you around!
