Aloha fellow avian fans!

Aloha everyone,

My name is Seth and after about a year of research and careful thought, I'll be picking up my new feathery companion (Red-Sided Male Eclectus) at the end of this month.

Been trying to find a nice online community to glean information from as well as to partake in discussions so I look forward to being a part of things here.

Mahalos,
Seth

Mahalos for all the welcomes - I will certainly post pics when I get him! The breeder is supposed to send me a pic of him this weekend [he's weaning with 2 baby greys atm haha] so I will post that.

Hi, Seth...another newbie here!

Your baby is absolutely adorable; I can't resist baby birds. Do you have a name in mind for him?

Congratulations...dad!

Yes, his name is Cervantes. Or, if you ask my parents and a few friends, Captain Cervantes xD

Getting close to his pick-up date so it's getting hard to wait, but very exciting!

That's a brilliant name, Cervantes. It's the first time I've ever heard that name for a bird; it's unique.

I'll bet you're excited. I don't know very much about eclectus parrots, but I'd like to ask you if they are clingy birds, such as lovebirds can be? I have heard that they are more aloof, which isn't such a bad thing for some people.

I can't wait to hear stories about Cervantes...I have watched some eclectus parrots talk on sites such as YouTube.

I would love to adopt or especially rescue such a bird, but I'm going to have to live vicariously through you.

Cheers!

Compared to alot of other breeds, Ekkies are pretty laid back from what I've seen, read and personally experienced. Every Ekkie I've ever met has been quite entertaining as they're not shy about being friends but they're not that "OMG he won't leave me alone" type of bird either - they seem to like their own little moments of peace and quiet.

I'm still a few weeks out from bringing him home but his cage and toys are pretty much all ready Just gotta endure the wait now!

I'll certainly share more when I have more to share! \o/
