Welcome to the forum! Cockatoos are not typically a 'starter' parrot (if there is one) and most people steer clear from them all together but thank you for taking him in. I recently went through a rescue to get my LSC2 but sadly weather has gotten in the way of me collecting him. Not like it wasn't already a long enough process hope to see a lot more of Turkey! I'll have to let you know how I get on with Malibu compare notes haha!

I think it's great you have the courage to work with a bird like that. Welcome, and
best of luck to you!

Just some questions...
Where did you get Turkey? What kind of diet is Turkey currently on? What is his daily
schedule with you like?

Hi Abby To answer a few of your questions..
Turkey came from a lady who had gotten him from another lady who took him in after a horrid house fire, the first lady who had him after the house fire couldn't handle him touch him, nothing he would just attack her so she placed him in the care of another woman.. long story short, I have always thought about getting a parrot but never went forward on it..for some reason, fait i think.. anywho i was looking online and just happened to take a look in the birds section and found turkey I called the lady and she was very pleasant and just stated that she couldn't give turkey what he needed she also had a goffin cockatoo as well and with moving and all she was looking to place turkey..I went to look at him and just feel in love.. he was so excited so to speak to see me..he put on quite the show..she said that no one could touch him and he was aggressive and was mostly in his cage due to this..so i payed for the bird and brought him home.. he was so funny, chattered the whole time..I got him home and let him settle in.. I gave him a few toys as he had none in his cage poor guy thats when i got my first bite....
I'm not sure what he was fed befor i only saw seed in a dish in his cage.. since i have had him he eats a blend.. zupreem fruit blend pellets and a small amount of parrot seed mix.. he also gets veggies and some fruit.. i have also given him a little of my spaghetti and he loves it.. he also like arrow baby cookies..and scrambled eggs
Our days are somewhat routine.. I uncover him about 8am feed him some scrambled eggs and tidy up his cage a bit, clean out his dishes and freshen up his cage (poop) then he comes out and we hang for a bit while i sit and talk with him giving him toys to shred.. I try to leave him out of the cage as long as possible, he will often try to climb down off his cage and chase me around wanting to bite..i then put gloves on ( he hates them) and as soon as he see them he will head back for his cage..i think he knows i can pick him up with them and hates that lol.. sometimes when we play with toys he will dart pass the toy and try to bite me.. he is sly.. dinner time comes and i put him back in his cage,, for some birdy time.. he is now starting to play with his toys when i get dinner ready i make some veggies for him and little pieces of fruit whatever i have on hand.. and feed him inside his cage while i'm busy with chores..around 7 i bring him back out and chat with him a little more then leave him to play with his toys on the cage play top..he is usually back in cage for bed with a baby cookie, i give him about an hour before covering him for the night at about 10pm..I only cover the front of cage just so he cant see us and light still gets in he is afraid of the dark.. so thats my days with turkey Hope its a good one.. please let me know if anything should be added or stopped
Sorry for the long story..:0
