New from Massachusetts

Hello all,
I'm new here. I found this forum looking up info on my African Grey's. I adopted them this past week from a family friend who's had them since they where hatchling's. Shes moving to Florida in a few weeks to retire and had asked me to take them about 10 years ago at some point knowing they'd outlive her. She decided it would be to much to move them to Florida so I now have them with me. I'm not new to birds but I've been out of the game so to speak for around 8 years. Growing up my Aunt owned a marine fish/ bird pet shop and I spent quite a bit of time there. We also had a reduced amazon, a sun conure and several cockatiels at my house growing up with my cockatiel who passed almost 9 years ago being the last bird I had owned. With a baby at the time I decided I didn't have the time to put into a new bird, then baby number 2 and a few moves later and I decided I would sell off my beloved fish tanks even as time was so short and moving them was quite the chore. Well now my kids are 7 and almost 10, I have a house and time for the birds so I now have two birds who own me again. One day I'll get some more fish tanks but I just don't have the space for now. I've also owned dogs my entire life and currently have a mixed breed pitbull I saved on the day he was to be put down who's turned out to be the most amazing dog I've ever owned and I've had some great ones. I swear he's as smart as a bird though and can understand half of what I'm saying to him. Anyway that about sums me up.

Welcome to the forum congratulations on getting two new birds, it must feel good to have them as companions again. Thank you for saving your dog too, what a good gesture. I wish we had more people like you around in this world!

We love photos by the way

Thank you all for the welcome. I'm sure I'll have some questions. I've never owned Grey's before and I'm fairly impressed with their intellegance already. They will actually talk to me and tell me what they want. I was cleaning Crackers cage and Gulliver kept saying "hey what about me" they'll also ask for clean water, apparently if its over 4 hours old its dirty to them... and they ask for dinner and stuff when they're hungry. It's pretty wild how smart they are.
So I'm on my phone at the moment but I'm going to try and upload some pictures. We'll see what happens...

So unfortunately this site doesn't like my phone. Some Vbulletin sites will work others will not. I'll upload some pictures from my computer in the morning to share.

So I downloaded the tapatalk app and now I can post pictures from my phone. I should of gotten this a while ago. Very nifty app. This picture is Crackers who decided to venture out of his cage today.

Another one of Crackers.

And here's one of Gulliver who seems to be cage bound. He's a lot more fresh and is going to take a bit of work to try and make him more friendly. His favorite game seems to be trying to trick you into giving him a scritch then spinning his head and trying to bite you. Sometimes he actually wants the scritch so I just have to watch the little bugger lol.
