Hi all! My name is Ashley, and besides being a member of TalkParrots now, I'm also a member of ThePerch.net and AvianAvenue.com. I was looking for another forum to join and stumbled upon this one. Hope it's as fun as the others!
My cockatiel, Rally, is a lutino. He was on Craigslist by a breeder who said he was "mean and unmanageable". Guess she doesn't know too much about pecking orders, huh? She was giving him to anyone who wanted him and I'm so glad he wound up with me. Who knows what hands he could of ended up in! He is a big sweetheart now and sings and whistles all day long. He was hatched on 6/22/2009 which is the same day I graduated! Destiny?...
My green-cheeked conure is Nitro. She too was on Craigslist. She was he pet of an 11yr old girl. After 2 years, the girl (who at 13 is beginning her social life) ignored her, leaving Nitro nippy and a little aggressive. Her parents threw her up for adoption and I gladly took her into her new forever home. She is now sweet and loves to chatter. Not sure of her exact hatch date, but when I picked her up on November 1st I was told she was 2yo, so the date 11/1/2007 just stuck.
Both birds live in a divided HQ flight cage and are spoiled beyond reason. The love their ZuPreem FruitBlend Flavor pellets, Nutri-Berries of all flavors, and millet (though Nitro isn't the biggest fan). Rally won't eat fruits or veggies straight, but if I chop them up and mix them with his pellets, he usually never figures it out that he's eating them! The Nutri-Berries he eats has fruits and veggies as well, so he gets his share. He also loves the occasional soy nut. Nitro on the other hand loves to eat raw fruits and veggies. If I'm taking a bite or drink of something she believes she has the right to a bite/sip as well! She doesn't really like soy nuts, but she'll still eat one or two if offered.
