New eclectus owner

Hi, I am new to parrots but have a 16 year old cat, a 6 year old guinea pig and 3 year old 75 gallon saltwater reef.

I have ALWAYS wanted a parrot and been fascinated with birds in general. I did a lot of reading and decided the male eclectus was the right fit for us. We bought a 6 week old baby boy today and will be getting him in another 4-6 weeks from the breeder.

We bought a huge cage, rolling perch stand and a few toys so we cannot wait to bring him home.

I look forward to reading and learning all I need to know.

Hi and welcome! I think it's fantastic you've done your research first. Have you got any pictures of the baby? You'll find it's no secret that we love pictures!

Congratz!!! Eclectus are so beautiful! Cool you're getting a boy, most people get the big red girls, but I like the boys for their hidden colours!

Welcome to the forum! Do you know about the eclectus diet yet? If you haven't already researched it, please do. They have different requirements

Hi thanks for the welcomes!

Yes I have done a lot of reading and research about their diet needs

We just got to see him for about an hour yesterday and got a couple of pictures. We will drive down the 2 hours to the breeder in 2-3 weeks to visit him again and will take more then.

We are new eclectus owners too! But we got a girl. I am still handfeeding her 4 times a day but she is starting to eat and drink. I am planning to take some new pics tonight.
