Ball pythons are pretty easy to care for - they need, when full grown, a 20g long tank with a heat lamp, a hide they can curl up and get out of the heat, and a nice substrate, usually aspen bedding. From there it'll need to eat once a week, either live mice, fresh killed mice, or frozen thawed. Frozen thawed is the best way to go, IMO, if you can get your snake to eat them. So you need to make sure you're able to get what it needs to eat and make sure your parents know what's going on and are OK with having them in the house - when the snake is full grown, it will be eating medium sized rats once a week. So make sure your parents are OK with frozen, dead mice and rats in the freezer so they don't freak out on you
