What Would YOU Like to See?

So I know this has been talked about between the Mods of Talk Parrots quite a few times, but I can't remember if we ever asked our members!

Basically, we want Talk Parrots to grow and be getting more new members that will stick around. The other "Talk" sites are all quite active and have a huge members base and we just haven't been able to figure out what it is about their specific sites that makes members flock to them.

I thought it'd be great to ask our members what you guys would like to see on Talk Parrots and what you think would bring more new members to the site, especially members that will stick around for the long haul.

So throw your ideas our way and we'll see what we can do to make this site 100 times more awesome!

Well I'm new, but I found this forum by poking around on my "home" forum, Talk Budgies. Maybe request some form of "advertisement" on the other forums, and see if current members can recommend TP to their friends with feathered friends.

I'm new to this forum but I've been on talk parrotlets and talk budgies for over a year. I came here looking for info on my GCC and was happy to also see things about budgies and parrotlers. Before I just assumed the forum was about larger parrots. I actually firat looked for a Green Cheek forum and didnt find one I liked as much, so I'm glad I came here.

I'm not sure how to help with membership, I found the forum through the PetGuide app. I'm not sure I would have by searching for green cheek conure info. Breaking doen the categories of large/small parrots into species might help with search engine positioning when people are searching specific parrot species.

I think the main reason this forum isn't as active as the other talk forums is because Budgies and Cockatiels are much more common for a pet bird than African greys and Cockatoos. A good reason is because they are cheaper and doesn't take so much effort to care for.

I honestly think this forum has a potential to grow into a nice, big forum. I left Talk Cockatiels and many other of the older and experienced members have left as well. I really don't want this forum turning into one of those forums. This forum is really good. I really like a lot of things on here. People are really respectful to each other.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Separating the large/small bird parts of the forum might actually be a good idea. We'll have to see about that!

Hey guys I am new here but I have a suggestion for you . Has anyone here ever heard of Tapatalk? It is an app which enables you to visit forums all in the one app. So if you could get this forum on the app, when people search for parrot forums...you guys will pop up and this means more people can join.

How it works is your forum is somehow attached to the app and you can view posts, reply to them and start threads through the app. You have a feed like on facebook and all your subscribed forums will be listed and new posts/threads will be shown. I am currently on there and its great! I can be looking at several forums at once without even leaving the app!

Check it out for yourselves so it makes better sense then how I explained it. If your forum is on there, people search for parrot forum and yours pops up...chances are they will see how great it is

Not sure, it's up to the Forum owner to do that and he doesn't really ever come on here except to do updates :\

Yeah for sure, it's a good idea to get back on TapaTalk but I have a feeling that forums have to pay to be on that app, which is probably why he took us off.

There is always the Pet Guide app. Search for PGfree in the play store.

If you're looking for the mobile app for this site, you can find details here:

http://www.petguide.com/mobile/

A quick Google search for the Android version yields this:

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I found this forum while looking for birds for sale on Kijiji (Canada). I like forums that have a bird 'for sale' or 'rehome' section but I find it's really hard to sift through all the ads for birds that are not from my country. Having that separated in sections from different countries would help as there is no sense looking at an ad for a bird that I can't bring across the border. Plus I would much rather buy a bird from someone who is active in a forum than from someone on Kijiji (or Craigslist) because I feel I am more likely to get a truthful account of the bird's history from someone who other people can vouch for. Plus I know that if I do need future help, these people will always be here for me. Just my two cents.
