Question We need YOU and your thoughts!

Hi guys!

Now I know this isn't the first suggestions thread to be made, however! We felt that we should make a new one as we have newer members who may wish to contribute something as well as those who have been here for a very long time and we had already fulfilled wishes in the previous threads Something for everybody

We are looking for the good, the bad and the ugly. Whatever you have to say about Talk Parrots, throw it at us! Without constructive criticism we cannot improve things for you guys or boost our activity levels so don't be afraid to say what you're thinking (as long as you say it in a nice way of course!)

We will do our best to try and get you guys what you want!

Now what I PERSONALLY would like to see is our smilies section back to how it was. I would like the birds in the bird section and all of the little faces in the smilies box that we get. It would also be great if we could add some more unique bird ones too if anybody is handy with a computer. Layla did some excellent ones for us already but we could do with more species. Perhaps somebody on here could do requests

I also want us to have more organized contests. As you're probably aware, I didn't do MOTM the past 2 months. I need to find a way to make it easier for myself to chase things up so us as mods are currently discussing the future of our contests

Go ahead and fire away folks, we look forward to any feedback!

That would of been my suggestion too Daisy, more constancy with the contests. Other than that I love this forum just the way it is!!

Yes, the smile drives me nuts , which is why I only use the simple one, because it is the one that is easily available

Awesome isn't it? Yung has also done something really cool for us regarding YouTube videos too, I will edit this post and put the thread link in once I've typed it out

Right! Here's a new thread on posting YouTube videos to make them look more inviting Yung has kindly sorted it out for us at my request and I think it looks a lot better when posting videos. It allows you to see the video in the thread instead of going on to YouTube itself. Here's the link to the thread! https://www.talkparrots.com/showthread.php?t=26337

Any new suggestions guys? I know the contests still haven't been done but I will be making a list of the themes and dates for next years and I will make sure they're consistent. Life has thrown a lot of rubbish at me constantly for the last two two years but I think after the awful week I just had things are starting to pick up and I hope to make this work for us all and bring in some more bird lovers!

Fire away folks!

Where to start??????? lol

1. I would love to see user tagging in threads and posts. When we add an @ sign to a users name like @Abby, Abby will get a notification in her alerts that she can click on and lead her to the thread we tagged her in.

2. Also, its a pain in the butt when I type a single word in the games thread and get a pop up saying we need to post a word or sentence that has 10 characters in it. 5 characters is enough.

3. I would like to see users have the ability to click on LIKES to posts. Thanks - (did you find this post helpful) is sort of like LIKES but not.

4. The ability to add youtubes that automatically load in the post/thread would be amazing.

5. I'm sure I can think of more things gimme a minute.

Thank you or all the suggestions.

1. We should be able to add a plug in to the forum that would allow that to work.
2. This is before you're allowed to post, correct? I think the standard for VB is 10 characters minimum for a post but we can check and see if it can be changed.
4. Most of our forums are set up to automatically convert a youtube link into a video preview. I will get the Techs looking into this.

Thanks Danniella, anything to get this board moving forward would be great. If you can do a couple of tweaks to give current members and any new coming members some things to play with on the site it just might help boost the membership here.

I was on VB's site and grabbed a couple of links for you.

1. Tagging Users Add on

2. I've changed the settings before on VB3 to shorten the characters in posts. You should be able to do it.

vboptions > Message Posting and Editing Options > Minimum Characters Per Post

3. Like Button Add on -

4. You tube coding

The reason why we have the 10 character policy as a minimum is to prevent spammers from quick posting.

I can ask the mods about this suggestions and see if they're okay with it.

I've not seen any spammers on here, so what ever add on you have to deal with them seems to work well.

I've seen a few changes lately, there is tagging at the top of threads and I am now getting notifications when someone quotes one of my posts now (which is Very Cool!)

Thanks for working on this.
