A toy Idea!

Hi, I know that some of your birds don't like toys (That was very much Cupid when I first got him) But I had an idea for a toy awhile ago that might help him like more toys (It has)
All you need is:
A ball with holes -Pictured below- It's just a cat toy :)
Some millet (Or your birds favorite treat!

So all you have to do is put the treat in the bird toy and you can show your bird that there is a treat inside and then hope he'll start playing! I hung this toy at first in Cupid's cage and now this is his favorite toy, Treat or no treat!

Good luck!

Great idea! :)
It's what i did with Kiki to get her to play with her toys. I stuffed a few millet balls into those cat balls that hang off the cage and she'd spend so long trying to get it out :p It really does work
Here's my little 'Kio doing just that, lol:

I also hang them on those kabobs/fruit spears you get. But you need to be careful with the jingle bells in the cat balls. Generally there's no way to tell if they're a safe metal or not, and they can catch beaks and toes in the slits. I always remove the bells before I let the birds have them.

That's a great idea, i ought to get a catball!
They seem pretty cheap as well :)
Thanks for the inspiration!
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. One question though. How do you get the bell out of the toy. Mine will not pull apart.
I use pliers and break them up through one of the holes, or I use pliers and break off the circle at the top. Breaking off the top is generally the best answer as it makes it much easier to fill the ball with millet. I use a nail file to smooth off the plastic after I've broken it off. (I haven't done that to this one yet). Then you just hang it up so that the hole is against the cage bars, or put a wood block over the hole on a skewer.

I have a few of those... I'll have to try it tonight! Great idea! :D
This is excellent! :) I've got to try this in a bit! I don't have that specific cat toy, my pet store amazingly doesn't sell them anymore. But I'm assuming it'll work with what I got. :) Thanks for the tip!

Putting millet inside is a great idea!

My GCC went nuts over it and she's been at it for the past 20 mins. :biggrin5:

A great idea and a tasty treat . My guys go nuts for the millet stuffed inside the chinese finger trap, I bet they will love this one too. :biggrin5:
I will have to try that. I think if I did the same thing with hay to shred they would like that also. I just this weekend got a bag of hay and tied bundles of it together. Oh my, they started right aways shreding it.
