In addition to my Kiki's diet, I add some seed and dried fruit from the seed bags you buy at pet stores. Since the pieces in those bags are large, I like to hand them to Kiki for her to eat while she is venturing out of her cage. I do it randomly while she's walking around and exploring, whenever I feel like it basically. Will she think I am rewarding her for something, and could I therefore be cluelessly encouraging random or bad behaviors? Or will she just see this as me feeding her? My vet says that FOR SURE a bird's regular daily food can be used as treats, that having to find something special for them when you are training them is a myth.

Abby,
Unless she is doing something you definitely do NOT want her to do right before you give her the treat, you wouldn't be rewarding something you did not want.

I think some special treat is a help for training but not necessary as long as they are hungry. Mostly it just has to be really small so they don't get full to quick and you aren't sitting there waiting for them to finish!
