i have a female African grey parrot her name is Georgia and shes a year and 5 months old, from her last owner they said she is slightly tame and she can talk and say many words.

what is the best way for her to gain mine and my boyfriends trust, and for her to learn to step up ?

I'm currently taking a class with an avian veterinarian. She recommends target training and various other ways that give you "good" interactions in the parrot's eyes to start to build trust.

The theory makes sense. You give the bird lots of choices this way.

Best advice I can offer is go slow until you learn her body language. Generally, with Greys, you need to watch her eyes and face. Her eyes will pin point (pupil will quickly shrink and expand) and her face will actually blush reddish if she's angry, scared, or about to bite. Once you learn what she's comfortable with and what she's not you can start moving towards more positive interaction. Like Nanay suggested, target training is a great way to build trust

Just go slow, don't force her into doing anything, and she will come around :)
