Anyone with a tourquoise conure?

1612 Views 16 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Cannuck
I have been contemplating which type of cnure I would like to breed. I had it narrowed down to a green cheek or a black capped. A friend of mine has been exploring the tourquoise mutation and just had a clutch of babies hatch, no feathers yet. 2 or 3 of the babies have the white beak, toes and claws. Both parents carry the tourquoise gene, so we are guessing that we have visual tourquoise babies and normal babies. She has offered me one of the babies!:lovehearts:

I am just wondering if any of you have this mutation and what they are like ect... And I love seeing pictures as well!

We've had a couple turq's in at the shop - they seemed just like a normal GCC to me, but they left just after weaning, so it's hard to say. They are absolutely stunning though!

I don't have a turq, but personality wise they're the same as any of the pyrrhura genus......green cheek, black capped, crimson bellied, painted, etc. They all have similar traits, they're active, funny, entertaining, feisty, and of course, nippy at times :p:lol: My Ozzy can be the sweetest cuddliest little fella, but he can also be a little pit bull when the hormones flare , I have to take the good with the not so good. :giggle:

I agree Sue. lol They are beautiful but just the same as any GGC. :)
Thank you everyone! I am sorry for my tardiness in responding. We had a bit of a crisis emergency with Leroy our GCC. It was quite the scare but is over now.

Well I am getting either a cinnamon or pineapple split tourquoise green cheek. I will know for sure the exact mutation when he/she gets feathers, lol. The breeder I got Leroy from who is also a very dear friend to me is going to sell me one of her babies from this clutch as well as an unrelated baby from another clutch to give me a breeding pair that should produce me all the green cheek mutations. Wow!:biggrin5:

She breeds such beautiful birds, both our lovie and our GCC have been bred and raised by her. I was blessed enough to finish weaning them though. She is also one of my biggest supports in aviculture! I am very thankful to have such a good relationship with my breeder!

I will of course share pictures with everyone when I do get my babies! I just love the conures, my favorites being the GCC and the BCC. The BCC are soooo full of spunk and attitude!

That's what I love about them! What mutation is Ozzy? He is beautifu:lovehearts:l!
Oh, you're so lucky! That'll be so much fun!

Thank you  Ozzy is yellow-sided split to pineapple.
Thats great you can get ahold of one. I've yet to see any blues in person :(

They are stunning! My friend has one visual pair that are not old enough for breeding yet and on visual that is and is paired with a normal split!
It appears that there is only one visual in this clutch but all the babies will be split so I will at least be getting one of those!:lovehearts:

These babies are taking so long to feather!!!!!!!!!!:giggle:
I can't say enough about GCC...LOL They are just amazing. The personality is like none other. Enjoy!
Yay! So you'll be getting one split-to-turq? Or are you getting the turq and a split?

If their is only one visual in this clutch I only get a split turq, however it would be either a cinnimon or pineapple visual split turq. When she breeds her other pair (both visual tuq) I will be getting a baby from them then. Therefore my pair will be able to produce visual turq's as well as cinnimon or pinapple.
It will be a while in the making but well worth it!:biggrin5:
Oh, that will be neat! You'll be able to get all 3 mutations! Totally worn the wait!

I can hardly wait! I had asked her about setting me up with a pair of normals because I love conures and wanted to get a breeding pair. She sugggested that I hold out and wait for a pair of these. I just love her babies too! Our green cheek pet and our lovie came from her as well!
Well, she's not weaned yet but here is my visual cinnamon split turquoise green cheek conure! We have named her Punky, she is full of spunk and attitude. She escaped and freed her siblings today! Lol!

My visual has hatched but has no feathers yet and I don't know which baby yet as I need a male, but he has been born!
