Cage setup for my Maroon Bellied conure!

2246 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  The Brute Squad
I'm getting my MB conure soon, and I just went and picked up the cage today!
It's better than I'd thought, and sooooo big!
I have spent ages making toys.
I put 'bits' of toys together to make parrot toys (the hook from one toy, bell from another....)
( I have realized the parrots probably going to shred them in 10 minutes :giggle:, but it was so much fun making them)
Here are the pictures!~

Oh a nice roomy cage, good for you!
I like that cage. I have seen several from NZ in posts. I don't think they are available in the US. I'm jealous! Your toys look great too!
Thanks.
The cage is second hand but you can hardly tell, (not a speck of rust!)
And even better, it was only $138, and usually they go for about $350 to $400!!!

Now all I need is the bird...., it just doesn't have the same effect talking to a little parrot puppet, and refilling it's food and water....

I think I'm going mad, I NEED THAT CONURE!!

Lol! Parrot puppet! :giggle: How much longer until your baby is weaned? It'll fly by as it gets closer!

He's weaned and ready to go, but I wanted to get a DNA test done.
I initially wanted a male, but I did some research and I really don't mind now!

It seemed a good idea at the time, 10 days didn't seem too long, but suddenly I'm thinking I wish I hadn't asked for the test because 10 days is passing like 10 years.
I think I'll be 100 by the time the parrot comes.....:giggle:
Haha, that's not too bad! I had to wait about the same for Kai and it was killing me because she kept sending me cute pictures!
Ella it's too bad that you didn't request the DNA and take the bird right away. How great is hindsight. :) We're all anxiously awaiting pics. How many more sleeps ???

Well, I thought it would just be when the DNA comes back ,but now I have to find a pet moving company that can cheaply, and safely move birds around NZ,and thats difficult!
Oh that's too bad. Good luck. I hope you find someone soon :)
That looks like a nice big cage :) Just a heads up, I don't think I would give your conure a key to play with, you don't know what kind of metal it is. I would also try and change those plastic curly hangers to pear links. I have heard of birds getting stuck in them before :)

Thank you.
I was also worried about the hangers too, that the plastic may be harmful if he chewed it.

I will take the keys out and change the hangers
Hey how is Ziggy liking the cage? I want pictures! Please:p
