Cheap toy idea

Yesterday I was at one of the local bird stores picking up food and I saw this great idea for a toy for a big bird.

In one of the blue and gold cage's they had taken a small phone book and they had punched a hole through it and hung it on the chain in the bird's cage. He was having great fun ripping pieces off it.

Sounds like a great idea :biggrin5:, as long as the print/dyes on the paper is bird safe.
Like newspapers, phone books use soy ink. Just be sure to take of the outside covers. Over here, they're generally printed on shiny paper/card which isn't bird safe. =)
Thats a great idea, i will have to tell my friend who has greys
Thats a really good idea

I asked and they told me that it was. I trust them they know a lot about birds it is all they sell. My avian vet is their avian vet and he highly recommends them as place to purchase baby birds.

The kept the cover on because it was made of stiff cardboard not shiny paper.

They told me that they also hang white paper towels in the bigger bird's cages to give them something to rip up. If you do that you run a chain through and use two bird safe clips to hang it.

Just make sure that the paper is white with no other colors printed on it.
