Clicker Training

Do we have anybody who has clicker trained parrots, here? Over a year ago I started clicker training Oscar, my parrotlet, and it was so much fun! He seemed to grasp the concept very well, although he never successfully learned much of anything. We never kept going due to lack of time to effectively clicker train him...

To anybody that can, I highly recommend trying out clicker training. It was a great way to bond with Oscar, it's fun, and I've seen great things happen with clicker trained birds!

You know I once started but I didn't give it a fair chance. I was trying to teach my linnie to get into her play basket. Progress was so slow and my life got busy that I quit after a few days. Once winter comes and my life slows, I would really like to try it.
I'm actually clicker training my budgies at the moment. It's working pretty well, it gets a bit tedious though. Bingo is learning how to wave, it's working out pretty good. Except he only does it when i put my finger to his leg. Clicker training is proven EFFECTIVE :D Hoorah

Hi there,

I am a professional dog trainer and behavior consultant and an avid clicker trainer! I published a book on clicker training show dogs as well. I also clicker train my birds and have had the opportunity to work with some other exotics at the zoo and do clicker trainign with them.

I love clicker training and highly recommend it. I use it for all the animals I work with but it is particularly powerful for fearful individuals who need to be reinforced for trying new things and making choices.

Yes, yes, yes, clicker training rules!!

I did attempt to clicker train one of my budgies over a year ago but then i got caught up in school so i didn't have much time to clicker train her anymore so she became wild once again. She is however tamer than my newer budgie because she still eats millet from my hand but does not step up or anything like it.

I also clicker trained my sun conure not to attack my step dad because he's a two person bird, he only likes me and my mom and used to scream whenever my step dad would come into the room
We've clicker trained our rats to high-five and our dogs, once the dogs are mostly off their clicker training I'm going to start on Goober! I don't want to confuse the poor puppy with lots of clicks!
