Im planning on buying bird safe rope and making one myself!I cant order online as none of my family are willing to use their credit card or debit card and I like doing rope and string projects so I know that my bubbies would like it!And its fun to make....once I know how to...

They look like fun to be honest haha! Since Kakariki love climbing I think ours would really appreciate one

I made one about a year ago. It hangs over my Parrotlet's cage (so any random poops fall into the cage!). My Conure LOVES it! She climbs and plays all over it! I added some toys to it here and there and she plays with all of them.
I decided to make one when I saw the prices! They're really easy to make too. One thing to keep in mind: My birds are always supervised when they are out in the bird room, and that includes playing on the climbing net. Bad things can happen in a second!

I got it at Harbor Freight, not sure if you have them in your location. You can probably get the supplies (the kind of rope you want, cable ties, heavy duty hooks, etc.) you need at a hardware store like Lowe's or Home Depot.
I laid it out on the floor to get the right size. Wherever the rope intersects, I used heavy duty cable (zip) ties and clipped the end of the ties short. This seemed to hold the rope better than tying a knot, and it used less rope. I made 3 loops on the top to hang the net. My huband made a decorative piece of wood, painted white, and screwed it into two studs in the ceiling. Then we screwed 3 heavy duty hooks into the wood and hung the net from the hooks. The whole thing cost about $3.00 -- not counting my husband's time! :biggrin5:
I originally made it for my Parrotlet, but my Conure is the one who uses it whenever she's in the "bird room"! (She's on it right now!) I watch her carefully to make sure she doesn't get caught in anything, but she's usually just playing with the toys or climbing around.

The only thing I would suggest about getting stuff at craft stores is that the things there are sometimes treated, and I don't know how you can tell if they are treated with chemicals or not. :shrug:
The folks at the bird store told me that they sell a wreath for birds. Someone bought a similar wreath at a craft store, and their bird died from the chemicals that it had been treated with.
I am not saying not to make your own toys. Making toys is fun and economical. I, personally, just don't know how to tell whether or not the stuff one would buy has been treated. Perhaps I should go to a craft store and look at the offerings to see if they are labeled as treated or not.
I might add that I am paranoid about my birds. I am the one who only this week thought my bird was seriously ill because she was stuffing herself with food.

You're right about being careful in the materials used to make toys. I don't think you're paranoid at all! I've made some toys and then taken a look at them, especially through the eyes of a teeny Parrolet like Angelina, and decided nope, that loop is too large or that bead is too smal, stuff like that.
My cimbing net has been in use for over a year now, first by a Parrotlet and now by a Conure, and even though I see them chewing on it a little, there've been no problems, so I feel it's safe.
These birdies will get into anything and everything they can, so it sure doesn't hurt to be VERY careful!

I hope you didn't think I was assuming your particular net was made with unsafe materials. I didn't think that at all.
Someone had asked about buying materials for making toys at a craft store. The gal at the bird store had very recently told me about a bird that had died because someone bought a wreath that looked just like one they were selling at the bird store, but only at a craft store. The craft store wreath had been treated with something poisonous, and the bird died.
I would never have realized that the things at the craft stores would be treated with chemicals. I guess it makes sense, but I wouldn't have thought about it unless she had told me that. I've never been very good about reading labels. I've had to develop the habit with my food allergies of late, but I think I would have just picked something up because it looked the same and not read the label.
I know you make sure when you purchase things that they are non-toxic.
Also, I get the impression that you supervise your birds when they play better than I do. Today I was sooooooooo upset with myself. I left Shira for a moment, to get something from the kitchen, but got distracted and forgot I had left her. Cannary happened to go into the living room and saw her on the floor before stepping on her. In fact, I almost stepped on Shira at the vet's the other day. Ashlynn took off flying and I was getting Ashlynn and didn't realize Shira had been scared by Ashlynn's flight and was herself coming to me, but she doesn't have any lift, so she had glided to the floor and was walking to me. This is the third close call that bird has had.
