Dollar store finds

Thought I'd share these. The first are kids plastic jewelry links...figured I could use them as foot toys and toy links. The second is rope from a dog toy. I plan on making long perches across the cage for balancing and also getting some plastic rings from a craft store and wrapping them in rope to make climbing rings. Or even possibly using it as perches on the playgyms.

I haven't seen the links but I have bought about five of the dog toys when I went toy searching in a dollar store.

How do you attach the rope to the cage? I've been debating doing something similar but haven't been able to decide on a way to secure them safely.

The Mexican people are very creative and DIY because it's most economical. I buy lengths of rope and large link plastic chain for my Lilac Crowned Amazon from spools in hardware stores. Very inexpensive compared to pet shops. My Zon has little to do with the plastic baby rattles and toys I hang on his gym, but his favorite is the scrap pine pieces I string together for him to chew and destroy. I also put PVC pipe rings on the branches of his tree gym and he delights in removing them and tossing them to the floor. He also delights in the plastic S hooks that I chain together constantly so he can remove them one by one and toss. Quite possibly what he likes is to see me pick them up and patiently remake the chain while he laughs and dances around excitedly waiting to do it all over again. Good thing I'm retired. What else do I have to do?

Awesome! I'll have to check out the dollar store more often, or even other areas of pet stores besides the bird areas (which I find are quite lacking in my area anyways. Barely any toys or items at all for birds!)
