Eating the base of her cage

1194 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  The Brute Squad
For the past 2 weeks, Russ has been waking up earlier than me, and just jumping to the bottom of her cage and eating the base. Whether it be paper, or the sandy grainy stuff 'proper' sheeting. And it's getting really annoying.

Any suggestions to stop her doing this/any one else have this problem? I don't want to have no base, cos that involves having to clean the plastic base every day from her poo.

Ya the poo does keep appearing. They like to chew. Take white printer paper and make a fan like when we were little and place it through the bars near the bottom. Russ may get the hint. Make sure she has things to chew on and shred. Thats what they were made for, hey let her shred your bills!
I think giving her alternate things to shred is the way to go, too, and I really like the ideas provided by The Brute Squad above. How is she doing physically now? Is she better?
I have been wondering how large the cage is? Also newspaper would be better than the sand coated cage papers. The sand is not good for them. Its great for finches though.
