it has pictures.

Well Mumbles tail went and started growing to the side the last few weeks , i feel a lump on the end the tail it growing away from. The lump is a soft ( its on the side , not the vent ). Do you think itts a fatty tumor? i kinda do.

We have no avian vets to see to him, i called up to the vet office and she said none of the vets would see him :(. Any imputs on this?

I heard ACV is good for birds with these tumors. help please he is only two , he doesnt deserve to die.....which leads me to my next question, can a fatty tumor kill a bird?

Aw thats so sad the the vet won't see him :( That makes me mad, you go to vet school to take care of animals than pick and choose who you will see . Thats not right!

I don't know what to say, there is no way of knowing if it is a fatty tumour or another type of tumour. Are there any other vets in your area, or one you could drive to on the weekend? You could also call the vet and see if they can reccomend someone who will see Mumbles.

I hope Mumbles is okay :(
That's too bad the vet won't see him :(, maybe if you do some googling you will be able to find a vet who isn't too far away from you? Does he seem to have any problem preening, It's hard to say but it might be an inflamed preening gland too. Whatever it is I hope little Mumbles is able to get some treatment soon. :lovehearts:

theres No avian vets on the island- and my dad wont bring me to st.johns where there is a vet that will see birds ( its 4 hours away) and dad doesnt have the time or the money to bring me out :(

preening looks to be okay :)

the left side is one big lump , im going to get some ACV tonight and put in the water :yesnod:. I really really hope i can decrese the tumor
Hmm... if it's a fatty tumor, then it shouldn't be life threatening. Has he fallen down tail-first lately? It could be a lump from bonking it too hard. I do hope he'll be ok! Try the ACV - I don't know if it'll help the lump but it can only do good so it's worth a try!
Hi stacey, i'm not sure Dr.Dee would be able to do a whole lot and as time time, i see no real reason for him to as its not effecting him in the point its harming him. If it starts to cause problems i'd see if i could get him brought out here to see him but be ready for a costly trip. Just to be seen its $60 and i'm not sure what else he can do. Blood work possibly and i have no idea on what the cost of that is.
Aww, Stacey.. :( I really hope that the tumor clears up, and hoping even more that it doesn't cause any problems at all. :( Mumble will be in my thoughts. :)
I will keep Mumble in my heart, i hope he is fine Stacey!
thanks everyone
i wet him down tonight , and i seen it..... its big and red. Kinda soft. my dad wont bring me to town Enna :( we dont have the money right now ( we just renivated my room)

If it is a fatty tumor or any tumor for that matter , should i seperate him. I know cancer isnt contagious ( as my sister had it and such ) but still

Enna , can you pm the phone number please or e-mail?
Oh Stacey, That horable that none of the vets will see him! I really hope he will get better!
Stacey, I hope Mumble gets better. I'll be thinking about him.
Aww, poor little Mumbles. :( How sad that there are no avian vets closer to you.

I was reading somewhere else about someone who had a budgie with a tumor (I don't remember what kind of tumor) but they were feeding herb salad and they said the tumor was shrinking.

I did a search on Yahoo Canada and didn't find any online retailers, maybe you could find a place there? You could order it from the US if you don't, it'll just take longer to get there.

I plan to order some when I order food again.

Here is some info on it. I know a lot of people use it.

Hope your little one will be ok.

thanks everyone
Deb , im going to talk to my dad when he gets home about ordering the herbs:) thankyou
Good luck with it, Stacey! I'm obviously in the same position in regards to vet care for birds...:(
It makes it really hard when there's no Avian Vets close by. If only the Vet would see your fid to help out, you'd think something that could be close to serious and needs to be looked at they would.

It may not be a tumor though, it could be a cyst. I also read on the same topic as yours, someone mentioned it possibly being the uropygial (oil) gland - http://www.exoticpetvet.net/avian/uropygial.html.

Hope you can find something to get rid of it, if s/he's acting normal otherwise, it mustn't be bothering him (or her) too much, which is a good thing of course! Good luck.
I have also read that herb salad is very good for healing , but its really hard to determine the cure if you dont have a proper diagnosis. Do your budgies get enough iodine ? This is very important to budgie health and helps to keep things like cysts down i have read!
I wish you luck for the little fellow. It is so hard in these time to always come up with money for vets bills, just do the best you can, that's all any of us can do.
Hi stacey, There number is 368-7981. I now have it programed into my phone.

Try not to worry to much about it unless it looks infected. A Few of my guys have these and have been living years. A Quaker i work for has one on her chest area and there was no reason to meddle with it as it wasn't harming her.
thanks enna , ill call in the morning
Good luck Stacy. I will keep Mumbles in my prayers that he makes a recovery. Your post makes me realize how lucky I am. There are some really good avian vets in my area. I actually get a choice.
