Hello from Tilly and me!

It's great to have a new forum just for parrots and just in time......Last month, we adopted a regent parrot (aka rock pebbler) named Tilly. She is a colorful medium-sized parrot and usually very easy to get along with. She doesn't talk (other than a barking sound and wolf whistle) or do any tricks, but is pretty much a calm and contented bird (except for a bite or two every now and then). She likes to sit on top of her cage or on the door of the cage and she loves just about any fruit or veggie that you give her. Sometimes she will sit on my shoulder or even on the top of my head. Tilly is the parrot in my avatar. Anyone else out there with a regent parrot?

We now have 9 birds (7 budgies, 1 'tiel and Tilly). What was I thinking??

Thanks for the welcome. It really is a lot of hard work taking care of this many birds. Some people have more than this....I just don't know how they do it. I hope I have learned to say NO to those who are giving their birds away. I really wish people would stay committed to their birds instead of getting tired of them.

I accidentally left them off and when I went back to attach them I couldn't figure out how to do it in the "edit" mode. Thanks for the welcome.

First let me say welcome. Your comment here makes me think some of your birds have been rehomed to you. Is that how you got your rock pebbler?
Oh Congrats on Tilly. MBS has no cure! Looking forward to seeing more pictures. How old is Tilly and how did you come to get her?
Sounds like you have a great flock. Yes I could not stop at one, two or three. I have 4 budgies and must commit to "No I will not get another bird" before my roommate lets me go into the bird store. LOL
Welcome and congrats on your new addition! I don't think there are many regent parrots here in the states, I've heard of them but never seen one in person. Beautiful birds however! Can't wait to meet the rest of your flock!

Thanks for the welcome and the info on posting photos after the fact. I will give it a try.

Yes, that is how we got our parrot and most all the rest of our birds. Tilly, was a friend's bird who pretty much abandoned her for a bad lifestyle. My friend had gotten Tilly from some people who were on drugs. So, poor Tilly, has had a rough life. No one knows how old she is. I do know that she is at least 3 years old because that is how long my friend had her.

Our first budgie, Boomer, was given to my daughter by a lady who lets her budgies have babies and then gives them away. Boomer, however, was not a baby and so we have had a hard time taming him. We are making progress with him though. The next six budgies all came from a family who could not take care of them any more. They had a lot of birds, dogs, cats and 10 children! These budgies are also not tame even though we have tried and tried. They were all adults when we brought them home. We bought our cockatiel, Little Bit, from a bird club who takes in rescues and then sells them at very reasonable prices at the bird fair near here. LB was only 3 months old and has been a delight. He talks up a storm and sings several songs. However, he has developed a bit of a bad attitude in the last few months since he turned one year old.

We love animals at our house....dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc. All of our pets have been rescues through the years. Our two cats died this year....one was 19 and the other 21. :(

Sorry to write so much, but that is the story of our birds.:)

Thanks for the congrats. I answered your questions in another post in this thread. I hope you see it a little further down. :)
Here are some more pictures of Tilly, the regent parrot (rock pebbler). We purchased the cage that she is on from an ad in the newspaper.....for only $25!!! It is a wonderful cage.
