Hello,
I have a 16 year old female Meyers Parrot who I have owned since she was weaned. She lived in her own cage in my bird room with a Peach Faced Lovebird as her neighbor -who was also in his own cage. They never directly interacted even though they shared a play gym (she on the top and he on the bottom) during out of cage time and both respected the others space. When my Lovebird passed at the age of 16, my Meyer's started excessively vocalizing. I could not find a solution.. I contacted a parrot consultant whose advice was to get a parakeet. That did not work out as my Meyers was aggressive and the parakeet wanted to be close so now I had two needy birds.
Can anyone advise me as to whether a pair of zebra finches or gouldians (that are happy in their cages/not being handled and will entertain each other) might provide neighborly comfort to my Meyers .... or will they drive my Meyers nuts with constant chatter?
