I Don't Know What Is Wrong With Tyson Today He Won't Let Me Hold Him Or Touch Him He Trys To Bite And Run From Me He Acts Like He Doesn't Know Me And Won't Take Peanuts Out Of My Hand? Should I Be Worried Or Is This The Breed? He Fell On The Floor Today But Seems Ok You Think He Maybe Hurt? Even If He Looks Fine?

Can you consult with a bird vet regarding the possiblity that he was injured in the fall? If he had not fallen, I would just suggest to leave him alone for a day and see what happens. Sometimes my birds have bad days, and I've learned to not worry unless it is a sustained behavior, but since he fell, I would wonder about that myself, too, if I were you.

Nanday i am praying and hoping he is back to his old self and he falls alot vet said its due to him having no wing feathers! He chewed his wings so bad that its down to the nubs at where flight feathers should be so he can't fly at all and he trys and falls so i am praying that he is back to his self as i have had him for almost 2 months and never saw him like this! He has his days where he wont come out of the cage but never like this and he is quiet all the sudden as he is a talker not a screamer though!

Tyson still is mad at me i talked to the vet and she said not to bring him in unless its major cause she said if it was broken pelvic he wouldn't be walking and when they are in pain they will scream she said sometimes Goffins get mad at you for small things and i have to win his trust back cause he lets my boyfriend touch and pet him but me nope he just trys to bite but will sit on my shoulder and today i moved his cage into the livingroom and out of the birdroom and he is better he lets me walk up to the cage without freaking!

Also keep in mind Tyson is at the stage where he's going thru sexual maturity so he's going to be more hormonal, moody, and loud than normal. I'm glad he's not injured, the rest will take time and patience.

if he is being aggressive and attacking, I highly recommend keeping him off your shoulder... I've been attacked and bitten in the face (more than once) and can speak from personal experience - you don't want any holes if you don't have to. My macaw went into a full rage and I was too stupid to leave her alone, pushed the issue, and I got a hole in my lip as a reward for that stubborn stupidity in addition to the numerous gouges in my hands and arms :giggle: Thankfully, I knew enough to not pull her off my face and waited for her to let go, or it would have been more than just a hole, it would have been a complete tear through my lip and I would have had to go to the hospital and a plastic surgeon. As it stands, I probably should have but.. don't care about scarring lol Don't underestimate Goffins either - I had a client at the pet shop who lost her entire earlobe to an angry Goffin she let get on her shoulder as well as a big scar near her eye. Not trying to scare you or anything with horror stories, just trying to emphasize using caution.

Also dont underestimate the emotional damage a serious bite like that can do - if my macaw were to do that to anyone but me, I would be forced to rehome her. The woman who's Goffin attacked her? Her husband made her get rid of it because it was seen as too dangerous. Again, not trying to scare you, lecture, or anything of the sort, it's just in my experience these are the things people don't take into consideration. I had warned the Goffin owner about letting him on her shoulder and she let him anyways because that was the only way she could hold him and "bond" with him at the time - the reality is he just wanted to sit in a position where he could vent his aggression and assert his control over the situation and when she tried to stop that, she got bit.

Just be careful, be patient, and he'll come around

Just a thought. If the fall scared him that badly and he tends to fall ~ perhaps putting some thick foam (wrapped in plastic so you can keep it clean) covered with papers so it looks like the normal bottom of his cage would break his fall. Have you lowered his perches to shorten his fall? I purchased thick foam from a fabric shop that was resonably priced.

I went through a bad spell with Amy where she turned my hands to raw hamburger for about 6 to 8 months (it's been several years ago now). But I started giving her Chamomile tea in her water everyday and got to a point where she and shared a cup of warm (not to warm) Chamomile tea every evening just before I put her to bed. I also started her on Pluck-No-More which promoted feather growth (Mind you, she is still my plucked, fuzzy baby) but she has her main wing and tail feathers now.
