There's a Blue Crowned Conure here...he's been for sale for ages! For months, I've been resisting the urge to go look. I've just finished sniffling my way through the movie "Paulie"...and now I REALLY want to go look!!! Do we have any divorce lawyers here, because I think I may need one....:giggle:

Sharon, I watched Paulie yesterday and I know how you feel about wanting a blue crowned conure. If I could find the space I would try and find one too. I have read they have good talking ability and great personality but are a little noisy.
Sharon you can use my parents lawyer :)
hehe
GET HIM , im sure your hubby will soon fall in loveee
Stacey, you looked at this guy awhile ago....Did he seem to be well socialized to you? I'd like to have some idea of how bad the noise is, but the only way I'm going to find out is get him, and then it'll be too late!
I would go visit him a few times to see if you can take the noise first. Here is a link I found about them http://www.birdchannel.com/bird-species/profiles/blue-crowned-conure-2.aspx

Well he needs some work as they dont spend much time with him anymore :( But im sure he'd catch on VERY quickly because when i first met him he'd ignor my and withing 30 mins he started to come around.
He was loud ( typically conure ) when i saw him , but he didnt chrip consintly so the noise was to a minimum. Looked healthy too!
call him up and ask to have a look
Yeah...Once I do that, I'm afraid I'll be bringing him home! I read that they're moderately loud, but LOUD is relative. How bad is it?
Hmm, I haven't been around one in a while, but not as loud as a sun, louder than a linnie at their worst. If that makes sense! Here's a video:

It's cute until about 1:30, then the noise is just annoying IMO, and around 2:00 she starts calling loudly. Hear the echo in the house? It's louder than your linnie, but not as piercing as a Sunny. At 2:45 she really lets loose  That really gives you an idea of a Blue Crown at their worst, I think. Hope this helps give you an idea of what to expect
Thanks Jenny! That may help with my decision....:)
is that :) , a good thing :XD: ?
I don't know...it didn't sound too bad, but if it continued all day, I guess it would be a tad irritating!!!...well, more than a tad, actually!!!:eek:I've just sent the owner an email, and offered to "bird sit" when he needs to go out of town. That way, I get to give him back if I want to....I'm not sure how he'll feel about that though....
Worth a try, Sharon! Offer to give him a home but if, for some reason, it doesn't work out in the first two weeks, you can give him back. People do this frequently down here where I live. The catch is to type out an informal contract and have him sign it so you don't get stuck, if that makes sense. Like I said, that screeching was worst case scenario  Yours might never make that noise!
I think looking after him at first would be a great idea. That way you can get to know them, their personality, what they're like and how loud they are to see if you could put up with it or not. But do remember there's a lot of bigger birds that are loud so if you've had a budgie for a long time and look at getting a parrot like this one, it's a huge step-up and noise (lots of it) is expected.
Oh Sharon my dear, what are you thinking? What if the budgies and Levi decide to try and out scream him.
I've thought of that, Cess! Wouldn't that be lovely! Actually, it's really weird, but whenever I play a bird video from forum members, my three birds go nuts! When I played the BCC video, all three were totally silent. Thay were all within four feet of the computer, and total silence. I wondered if it scared them....

 or maybe they're thinking... please NO
Hey,the bird sitting is a good idea :biggrin5:, just like when you're watching someone else's child, when they get loud and obnoxious, you get to give them back. :p
Someone who lives close to Sharon needs to go over there and confiscate the Paulie video.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
