i would love to show u guys photos of my flock he is silver or grey ,, i must first figure out how to load the photos i am online from my phone so everything is different otherwise i will go to mom and load them lol a bit stupid when it comes to these modern stuff..... thanks Solace for ur help
hi all a question..lol.. i am sure thr will b plenty more but we will take it 1 at a time .. after quarentine does frikkie(IRN) have to b alone until he starts to talk or can i put him with the flock for an hour or so a day... cause the breede that i bought him from says he wil only talk if he is alone

·Frikkie might never talk words at all. I have a friend with a single IRN and he has never uttered a word of human speech. He does make a lot of IRN sounds though!
Some parrots are just more inclined than others to talk. I have heard of parrots starting to talk even though they have been housed with other parrots their entire life. Some just never talk.
So it would all depend on whether Frikkie is a natural talker or not. I think it would be more likely for him to learn to talk if he wasn't with other birds. However, that would mean he needs to be out of earshot of any of your other birds' sounds.

I love birds whether they talk or not, too. I was asking if they talked, though, because my linnie picked up several words from a grey that was housed beside her in the bird store for several months. That isn't a possibility with your ring neck if the others don't talk, but birds do learn to talk from one another, too.
good morning all hope u all fine just an update ....let frikkie out of the cage last nite 4 the 1st time he really enjoyed it now we can start the training process please give me some training advice anything i can use would be helpful

With the training, take it really slow and just go with the flow with him, don't push him, let him do it at his pace. I highly suggest clicker training; here's an article I found on clicker training: http://www.essortment.com/all/clickertraining_pbj.htm Good luck with the training.
My babies are really well, they're keeping me busy, but it's how I like it.. I'm really enjoying spending time with them. :biggrin5: At the moment, I'm finding homes for 4 of them. They're all eating a variety of vegetables and fruit 3 to 4 times a day so they're getting nice and "plump" lol.

I'm sorry your breeder was dishonest, but I'm happy the bird and you found one another. Will the age make any difference in what could possibly be the outcomes for the bird's bonding well with you?
Our linnie was already a bit over eighteen months when she came into our home. (Our sellers were honest.) Nevertheless, she is one of the two sweetest, friendliest, and most loving birds of our four. The bourkes we started playing with regularly when he was still handfeeding is her equal in this respect.
I don't know if certain species of birds need intensive interaction before age 18 months for the best results or not, but I guess we never know what could have been if. I only seem to realize with my particular birds that it seems to be more a function of the birds innate personality than anything else, as long as they have not been mishandled.
Just curious about the age thing, though.
