Hi fellow members!

My name is Kelsey, I'm 19 years old, and I live in Australia with my ever-growing flock. I'm currently studying a Certificate III in Native Wildlife Rehabilitation and also volunteering at a local Wildlife Sanctuary on the Bird Round. I've already completed an Aussie Wildlife Course (with a focus on orphaned birds) and also a Companion Parrot Workshop (which dealt with diet, behaviour, husbandry, etc.).

As you can see, I very much love my feathery friends. My goal in life would be to find work at a Zoo or Animal Sanctuary. If I ever win the lotto then I'm going to open my own Bird Rescue. I like to dream big.

I'm a member on Talk Budgies and heard about this forum from Dave. I'm super excited to see this place grow into a fantastic place which I'm sure I'll visit often.

Now on to my gorgeous flock of fids (and my lovely puppy).

Monster - She is a Sky Blue Double Factor Dominant Pied and the fatty in the family. She tips the scales at a whopping 60g! I'm currently working on her diet and weight problem. Monster is my first ever pet bird and I bought her from a petshop.

Bubblegum - She is a Sky Blue Cinnamon Opaline Spangle and was adopted from the RSPCA. She's a pretty relaxed girl and enjoys sitting back while the other budgies drive her insane.

Artemis - He is a Sky Blue Yellow Face Type II Spangle and was adopted from a man who could no longer take care of him. Unfortunately Artemis has developed a testicular tumour and his gorgeous blue cere has turned a chocolate brown.

Pickpocket - She is a Green Series Dark Eyed Clear and (along with Piccolo) was bought from a couple who wanted to get rid of them because they were "too noisy and messy".

Piccolo - He is a Mauve Yellow Face Type II Double Factor Dominant Pied and just an absolute sweetheart. Piccolo just wants to be everyone's friend.

Clopin - She is a Plum-headed Parakeet and my little princess. I bought her in August 2007 only to have the seller take my deposit money and Clopin and dissappear without a trace! It took weeks of investigation and phone calls to find her andClopin eventually come home with me in October 2007. Clopin is currently being clicker trained and can do a few tricks.

Aztec - He is also a Plum-headed Parakeet and was adopted from a rescue in Melbourne. He was surrendered because his growth was stunted and was no use to the breeder. Since living with me his flights and tail feathers have come in... and lo-and-behold... his growth wasn't stunted afterall. He just needed a good diet and some TLC.

Day I got him:

Now:

Dende - He is a Scaly-breasted Lorikeet and was adopted (or rescued) from an owner who didn't even know he was a Lorikeet. Dende was being fed seed and kept in a truly horrible environment. He was pretty scared of people to start with, but with a bit of encouragement and a syringe full of sweet juice, he has learnt that people are alright afterall.

His previous "home":

Now:

Chewy -
He is a Short-billed Corella and was rescued from an abusive situation. I won't go into details, but it's no surprise that Chewy is a "broken spirit". He is scared of people and needs a lot of work. I'm currently fostering him until I can find a forever home for him.

His previous "home":

Now:

Pie and Fizz - These two are female Button Quail and are outside fids. Pie is Silver while Fizz is Brown.

Their home:

*Man not included. Only used for size comparison.* ;)

Chompie - He is an 11 year old Chihuahua and my partner-in-crime. He suffers from Addison's Disease, but with the proper medication and care he should be able to live to a ripe old age. Chompie enjoys snoozing in the sun and going for short walks.

What a great job you did in bringing them back to a nice looking bird. I can't beleive the small cages they were in. I have a goldies lorikeet and your looks the same size as mine.
Is he small? Poor lorikeet eating seeds. That if horrible. Your other birds look very healthy now.

Thanks! I think the members on TP will learn quickly that I'm a photo nut. I love posting and seeing photos of fids! :D

Thank you. :) I really am proud of my little Aztec booger. He's such a charming little fellow.

Thanks! :) Dende is smaller than a Rainbow Lorikeet but much larger than a Purple-crowned Lorikeet. I've never seen a Goldies Lorikeet in person so I can't really compare their size, sorry.

Here's another photo of Dende with my hand if it helps you at all. :)
