Socks is a assumed female vasa parrot around 7 or 8 years old who i had the pleasure of bird sitting this summer. she was a absolute joy. She would always ask "whats ya doing" Sometimes she would awnser herself by saying "All that".

She is on her second home besides the pet store she came from. If her current owner should ever decide to sell her i will be on her doorstep in the morning. Wont see this beautiful birdy get passed from owner to owner.

She is a fairly rare bird in canada. From my understand around 800 were imported from madagasgar to the states and because these guys are a little different and the males (sorry not really sure how to describe this so bear with me) get something that looks like a prolapsed cola (sp) when they are sexcually mature and its breeding season. Unlike other birds they actually well "do it". Part of the male bird does enter the female. Many males have been brought to the vets when this happened to them and surgery has taken the lifes of a lot of them. Females will loose all the feathers on their heads and their skin will turn yellow when in breeding condition.

Anyways, enough back ground info, Heres sock.

Sorry about white dot, Lense has a chip it in

All time fave picture of her

God i miss that birdy. She never was much of a cuddler but she would stick her foot through the cage bars for you to rub it.

I think the owner is selling her , i seen an ad somewhere for a vasa, ill try to see if i can find it

EDIT: http://stjohns.kijiji.ca/c-pets-birds-for-sale-Parrot-for-sale-W0QQAdIdZ157335138 ..i e-mailed this person and she said it was a vasa. Not sure if its socks but like you said they are rare , so what are the chances...
Might just have to Tell her owner off about this one... I'm not to sure she will be able to sell her. Not enough people around here wanting a larger bird.
What a stunning bird! Gorgeous! :lovehearts:
Vasa's are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing the pics!
What a beautiful bird I had never seen one before.
Adorable. I've heard of them but have never seen one. I don't blame you for wanting her if her current owners decide to rehome her.

Is that her on the Kijiji ad that Stacey posted?

That bird is adorabley scary! I love her! Reminds me of a predatory bird.
Such a beautiful bird! Best of luck if that is indeed your Socks!
I had never seen one either. Thanks for sharing! She looks almost like an eagle in that first photo.
She's so beautiful! I've never seen any bird like her!
She's a really unusual and beautiful looking parrot. :D
She is very special :lovehearts:If that is Socks in the ad I wonder why the owner wouldn't offer her to you first being that you're so fond of her :(
Thanks for sharing the pics. I hope you get her permanently and then can share more. The information you posted was very interesting!
What an interesting bird and once again I learned something I never knew. Great info.
I hope you get here if that is her for sale.

Ya know, i'm not sure. During her stay with me i got her a brand spankin new huge cage, got her on a better diet and a ton of toys and never once told her she had to pay for any of this. Its not like shes a hard bird to get along with. Doesn't demand to much of your time. Food, Water, Few toys mixed up every now and then and some out time is great. She couldn't care less for people but does like a head rub every now and then.
I have seen one before at the vets. They are big, very interesting. Did you contact the owner yet? You bought her a cage and then they are selling it with her? They should give it back or give you the bird and the cage. Let us know what happens.
I hope you rescue her. That is what she needs, rescuing!
