I spent at least 2 weeks waiting for the DNA test results, then finally I decided I couldn't wait any longer.
So yesterday, the breeder sent me down his tamest and quietest MB conure.
I finally picked him up at the airport at about 10:30 at night.
I had to wait for an hours car trip before I finally saw him/her (we think it's a him, and so does the breeder, judging by personality.
His name is Ziggy.
And he is beautiful! The cutest little thing I could have imagined.
His colours are stunning! Seeing them up close is so amazing.
I opened the box and he flew around the room before landing on the ground.
I put him to bed and had to wait a whole night before I could really get to know him!
The next day I found out that he is very quiet so far. In fact, the quietest bird I've owned! And he LOVES cuddles, and when I say loves cuddles, I mean he will chase you around and nuzzle into your hand, then close his eyes and go to sleep while you stroke him.
I don't know how I ever lived without him!!!
The weaning is going well, and he loves carrots and orange things, and I always ask him if he feels like some of his 'orange'
He begs for his formula, but then doesn't take much, instead crunching at some seed, which I'm guessing is a good sign!
I am absolutely besotted with him, I can't stop watching him.
Seeing him just walk round the cage is enough to keep my occupied for hours.
And when people say, 'they are little clowns', they are right.
I saw him 5 minutes ago hanging upside down from his food bowl calling out "look at me!"
He's like a mini macaw!
I couldn't imagine a more perfect bird, except for Mr Tinkles, who I will never forget.
Here are some photos of him:
