Hi there! I'm new to this forum but am a member of the parrotlet forum. I am picking up my baby g/c conure tonight and am very excited! Here is a pic of him about 10 days ago. He's bigger now and has longer feathers and a smoother look. I visited him on Friday but forgot to take a picture. :)

Well, he's home and so far so good. We'll see how the next few days go. He is so beautiful. And my parrotlet doesn't mind him - yet :) I'll try to get some new pics. It's funny to watch him as he's still a little clumsy - I can't wait to go home from work and see him!

Sounds great! My P'let won't let Libby anywhere near her! I guess I'm lucky she likes me a little -- you know how P'lets can be!

Libby was a bit clumsy when she first came home too, but once she got used to her HQ flight cage, she started getting around great.

Don't forget pictures when he's settled! What's his name?

He's great. They sure are characters! He was sitting on my shoulder yesterday watching me play with a tape measure and he jumped down and started pulling out and letting go back in over and over again! He's not afraid to taste any foods or play with anything. I don't know if all conures are fairly "fearless"? He loves to be on us ALL the time - whereas my parrotlet will only be with us on his terms when he wants to - but when he does, he's super cuddly!
Question - I feed my parrotlet Roudybush crumble - I've been feeding the conure the same thing (along with his seeds and fresh foods) - but should I be getting a different type of pellet for him?

No name yet - we're thinking of Hugo as it is a Bolivian name, which is where the green cheek originate from and it means "Mind, heart & spirit"

:welcome: to the forum! Are you hand-feeding him then? He seems a little young to be weaned, but it's hard to gauge with photos

OH Sorry! That's an old photo from when I visited him at the breeders. He's about 9 weeks now. Him and my parrotlet are almost the exact same age. Here's a newer photo

I'm working on some better pics :)

Hugo is a great name for him! I love the meaning!

All the birds at the bird shop where I buy my birds, supplies, toys, food, etc., wean their birds to Roudybush pellets, so when Libby came home, that's what she was eating, along with fruits, veggies and other good stuff.

She was on the medium sized pellets, but I found out very quickly when I mixed some crumbles with the medium, that she loves the "crumbles" version, which is what my Parrotlet likes too. So until I used up the medium, there I was, every day, putting them in a baggy and "tenderizing" them into crumbles, so my baby would be happy!

So I guess it depends on the bird, but Libby has been on crumbles ever since and loves them -- she's a little pellet piggy!

As far as being fearless, Libby was shy at first, but once she figured out that good stuff to eat and play with comes from my hands, she'll eat anything I offer her. When she was a baby, she was fearful of new toys in her cage, but that's no problem now -- she attacks new toys with gusto! She's still wary of strangers in the house. She doesn't bite them, and will perch on their fingers okay, but leans waaayyy back away from them -- so funny!

BTW, my baby will be one year old on Feb. 27th! You're in for LOTS of fun him Hugo!

Shira is fearless. She is her own worst enemy. She has always been this way, so I suppose it is an individual thing. However, more green cheeks are on the fearless end of the spectrum than not. I do know a few fearful ones. The owner of the bird store has a green cheek who tried to attack a pit bull.
