OMG!!! He just flew to me!!!

OMG! We had such a breakthrough yesterday! Okay so here's the story!

You know how Rico is still kinda scared right? So we had him on a play area by me. He was on the coffee table and I was like a foot away from him on the sofa working on the computer. All of a sudden...HE FLEW OVER TO ME! Well he actually flew over to the top of the computer. Worked his way down and realized he's gotten to close. The he flew back to the top panicked and flew back to the playarea!

But wow! I was wondering if he would EVER come to me himself! I am sooo excited and so proud of him!

I know I already said this over at the linnie forum, but...

:mcongratulations:
Thanks Jenny you're a sweetheart!
Congratulations! I can't wait till my Lea does that with me. I'd be happy even if she plays in a play area outside her cage.
:congrat:

I know that feeling all too well, it's like 'OMG I can't believe this just happened.'

And then the bird gets all embarrassed like 'you didn't just see me do that'....

I'm sure soon Rico will be flying over to you no problem!
Sweet Rico. He'll be glued to you soon :biggrin5:. You have done such a great job with him, give yourself a big pat on the back
:woohooban:

Thanks Jenny you're a sweetheart!

Congrats !!! Way to go!!! I know how excited you must be. I was the same when Oren gave me a cheek hug and continues to do so every night. It's a huge WOW!!!

So this is what you do next:

Place a piece of apple or millet in the same spot (or close by it) and wait for the next visit in exactly the same way.

Your bird is becoming comfortable with being close in proximity and now is the time to take advantage of it. Don't go after him or you may undo the progress you've made. If possible, place a very long dowel/branch from the coffee table to your the sofa. You could also clip/tie millet half way along the dowel to encourage him to come to you a little at a time.

BRAVO! This is the best possible way to train a linnie!!

Congrats!
